Black oil poured on K C Venugopal's picture in Kannur

KANNUR: Black oil was poured on the flex board of AICC general secretary K C Venugopal at Pazhayangadi in Kannur. The incident happened when disputes are continuing in the Congress in connection with the chief minister's post.

The flex had pictures of four important leaders. The flex having the pictures of Ramesh Chennithala, V D Satheesan and Sunny Joseph were omitted and black oil was poured on K C Venugopal's image. It is not clear who is behind the incident. The police are examining the CCTV footage from the area. The police are investigating whether Congress workers are behind the protest or whether other political parties tried to take advantage of the situation.

Similar protests were reported in Ernakulam and Malappuram in the past few days. As a precautionary measure to prevent the atmosphere from being disturbed, the police have intensified investigations into such incidents.
