Siblings killed after lorry rams car while changing tyre

CHENNAI: Malayali siblings were killed after a taurus lorry rammed on to their car parked on the roadside. The accident happened on the national highway at Guruparapally on the Hosur-Krishnagiri national highway. The two killed has been identified as Divya (34) of Ambalavattom Panamanna in Palakkad and her brother Deepak (27). Seven others who were with them sustained injuries.

The incident happened Monday morning at 2 am. The car stopped on the roadside after one of its tyres got punctured. When Deepak was keeping the punctured tyre on to the car, a lorry losing control from behind hit the rear of the car.

Parents of the two Raveendran (59) and Parvathy (53), Divya’s twin sister Remya (34), Divya’s husband Vineeth (44) of Pattambi, his children Abhindev (12) and Akhildev (9) and his mother Sarojini (68) were in the car. They have been admitted at Krishnagiri Govt Medical College. Sarojini has been shifted to a private hospital in Krishnagiri as her injuries are serious. As Deepak, who was working in Gujarat, was on leave, they had planned a trip to Bengaluru with his family.

The family left to Bengaluru on Saturday morning. They left Bengaluru on Sunday night at 11 pm to their hometown.
