'Even death cannot part us'; Prafulla to be laid to rest alongside Mani

KASARAGOD: Prafulla tried for months but gave up after realising that the pain would not leave her. The life she dreamed with her fiancé was shattered in a car accident in January. Prafulla, devastated by the death of her beloved Mani, was found hanging at her home on Sunday. As per Prafulla's last wish to rest beside her beloved, the body was taken to Mani's home in Tamil Nadu, where he was buried. Prafulla (26) is the daughter of B. Jayanandan and Devi from Kumbala Kidur Kundankeradukka in Kasaragod. Mani (30) is a native of Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu. Mani died in a car accident in January.

It was while pursuing a hotel management course in Palakkad that Prafulla fell in love with Mani (30), a finance company staff. Mani used to visit Palakkad regularly for work-related purposes. Mani had promised to marry Prafulla after getting a permanent job in a finance company. They got engaged nine months ago. With the job secured, the decision was made to get married before the monsoon this year.

Meanwhile, an accident in January dashed the whole plan. Mani, who had been undergoing treatment for weeks, succumbed to his death two months ago. Prafulla, who had dreamed of a life with Mani, was devastated. She committed suicide while the family members were attending a relative's wedding.

The police had found a suicide note in which she requested to be buried at the same place as Mani. After both family members agreed, it was decided to bury Prafulla's body next to Mani. The body was taken to Tamil Nadu yesterday afternoon. It will be brought to Mani's house by 9 am today. It will then be cremated in the house compound. Pramodini and Pramod Kumar are Prafulla's siblings.
