Amster job fraud: Lawyers gather as more complaints emerge against Parvathy

KOCHI: After learning that Parvathy Maya Shaji had been arrested in the Amster job fraud case, people from various parts of Kerala who allegedly lost money in the fraud reached the Palarivattom police station. A team of lawyers representing Parvathy also gathered there, reportedly seeking to settle the cases.

Police questioned Parvathy. Parvathy, who was taken into custody from Thiruvananthapuram airport on Thursday, was granted interim bail that night. The Ernakulam Magistrate Court yesterday sent her to police custody for two days.

Two cases have been registered at the Palarivattom police station, one in January and another in August. Following her arrest, 20 more complaints were received. Many people allegedly lost lakhs of rupees. There are attempts to settle the complaints by offering small amounts of money, according to the report. There are also complaints that Parvathy and her managers threatened those who demanded their money back.

Vishnu Vijayan, Abhijith Nair and Aju Mathew, who were associated with Amster's office near the Changampuzha Metro station in Edappally, along with Parvathy's father, Shaji, were allegedly involved in the threats. Vishnu Vijayan is reportedly a prominent activist of a youth organisation.

Parvathy told police that she had separated from her husband Aneesh. Police suspect that this claim was made as part of an attempt to derail the investigation. Photos of Parvathy with Aneesh are still available on her social media accounts. Police also found that Parvathy allegedly spent the money collected through the job fraud on a lavish lifestyle. She reportedly owns properties and cars worth crores of rupees in Dubai and Kerala.

Police also confirmed that Amster's offices in Kerala, including the one in Edappally, did not have permission from the Protector of Emigrants to conduct overseas recruitment.
