CHENNAI: A crucial hearing in the divorce petition filed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s wife Sangeetha is scheduled to take place today at the Chengalpattu Family Court. The petition seeks to end their 26-year marriage due to differences between the couple. Reports suggest that both Vijay and Sangeetha will attend the court proceedings through video conferencing. Earlier, lawyers representing both sides had requested the court to conduct the hearing through video conferencing, citing security concerns.
The petition filed by Sangeetha includes serious allegations against Vijay, including mental harassment and an alleged extramarital relationship. The petition claims that Vijay has been in a relationship with a co-star since 2021. Apart from divorce, Sangeetha has also sought maintenance and the right to continue living at their residence in Neelankarai. Sangeetha and their children were reportedly absent from Vijay’s political party launch events and his swearing-in ceremony as Chief Minister. Reports about Vijay’s alleged closeness with actress Trisha had also sparked controversy.
Meanwhile, rumours about efforts to reunite the couple have been gaining attention on social media. Reports claimed that Vijay’s mother Shoba has been trying to bring them back together. However, neither Vijay nor Sangeetha has officially commented on the matter so far.
