Couple attacked by Pitbull, woman sustains serious injuries

CHANDIGARH: A couple was seriously injured in an attack by the pitbull. The incident happened on Tuesday evening in the Ghuman Nagar area of Patiala in Punjab. It happened when Ankit Sabharwal and his wife Shifali, who had come to Ghuman Nagar along with a property dealer to view a house for rent.

As soon as the property dealer opened the gate of the house, the pitbull ran out and started attacking the woman. Shifali was bitten on several parts of her body, including her hands and feet. The woman, who had to undergo surgery due to serious injuries, is presently undergoing treatment at a private hospital. While trying to save her wife, Ankit was also attacked by the dog.

CCTV footage of the horrific attack is being circulated on social media. While trying to escape from the hands of the dog, the woman loses control and falls down. However, the dog jumped on top of her. While trying to save her, the dog bit Ankit's back and hung there for a long time without letting go. Hearing the couple's screams, the neighbors rushed and tried to chase him away with sticks, but failed to stop the dog.

With great difficulty, the neighbors brought the dog inside the house and locked the gate. The footage shows Ankit bleeding from the deep wounds caused by the dog's bite. Ankit demanded that action be taken against the dog's owners. The new incident comes against the backdrop of continuous reports of dog attacks in Patiala. Patiala Mayor Kundan Gogia said that keeping aggressive breeds of dogs will be banned in the city. The decision will be taken to discuss the issue in the municipal corporation meeting. The authorities are also planning to bring a separate resolution in this regard.
