NEW DELHI: The 18th BRICS Summit, a grouping of developing countries, concluded in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the world leaders who attended the summit. The next BRICS Summit will be hosted by China.

In his closing address, Prime Minister Modi called on BRICS to move forward through cooperation and inclusive development to address challenges and promote prosperity for humanity, at a time when geopolitical conflicts are adversely affecting ordinary people around the world. Modi also expressed concern over the weaponisation of technology and critical minerals.

‘I hope that the New Delhi Declaration adopted at the summit will provide clear direction to our vision and future cooperation. BRICS is entering its third decade. The world now expects concrete results from us, not merely ideas and promises. I am confident that, through our collective efforts, we can certainly live up to these expectations. As the next country to host the summit, I once again extend my best wishes to China,” the Prime Minister said in his closing address.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Ugandan Vice President Jessica Alupo, Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima, Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, and Uruguayan Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin were among those who attended the summit.
