RANNI: A 28-year-old woman was hospitalised after being bitten by a Viper that was hiding inside her moving scooter. The victim, identified as Sonu Thomas of Vayyattupuzha, was attacked near Vadasserikkara around 7:30 AM on Tuesday.

Sonu, an employee at a private medical laboratory in Pathanamthitta, was commuting to work when the incident occurred. According to reports, she felt a sharp prick on her hand while riding through Vadasserikkara. Initially dismissing it as an insect bite, she continued her journey. However, she realised it was a snake after being bitten a second time.

She immediately pulled over and alerted nearby autorickshaw drivers. Demonstrating presence of mind, the workers tied a cloth above the wound to restrict the venom's spread and rushed her to the Ranni Taluk Hospital. She was later shifted to a private hospital in Thiruvalla for advanced treatment.

Upon inspecting the vehicle, the autorickshaw workers discovered the snake concealed within the scooter’s headlight assembly and killed it. Hospital authorities have confirmed that Sonu is currently out of danger and is responding well to treatment.
