THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government issued an order to defer the repayment of principal and interest on loans and advances to the government from the salaries of all Class Four Contingent Work Establishment employees in the state government service for May. The repayment of the deferred instalments will be deducted from the salaries for the months from July to November in five equal instalments.

In case of default in this, the amount will be collected in a lump sum along with penalty interest. The order also states that the Treasury Officer should not accept the salary bills of employees who default in repayment.

This applies to employees of local self-government institutions and all aided schools and private colleges whose salaries are drawn from the government's Consolidated Fund.
