Cyclonic circulation close to the southern Kerala coast; Rains to intensify in state, yellow alert issued

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state will witness heavy rains in the coming days due to the influence of a cyclonic circulation and a low-pressure area formed in the Arabian Sea. The cyclonic circulation is located over the southeast Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep and is close to the southern Kerala coast.

The indian Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of isolated rain with thundershowers and strong winds gusting up to 30 to 50 kmph in Kerala and Mahe for the next five days. A yellow alert was issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Kannur districts today and for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode districts on Saturday.
