Fuel crisis: Reduce daily travel to offices, encourage work-from-home practices, says Prime Minister

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has suggested measures to reduce fuel consumption in the country amid the ongoing tensions in West Asia. Speaking at a public event in Hyderabad, Modi said the use of petrol and diesel should be controlled and work-from-home practices should be encouraged again to reduce fuel usage. The Prime Minister said reducing daily travel to offices could help save fuel and bring economic benefits. He also urged people to cut down on gold purchases as part of efforts to control inflation and rising prices in the Indian market.

“Keeping national interest in mind, practices like work from home, online conferences, and virtual meetings should be promoted again. Petrol and diesel prices are rising sharply. In such a situation, protecting the country’s foreign exchange reserves is everyone’s responsibility,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of using public transport systems such as metro services and adopting carpooling to reduce fuel consumption. Modi further said that instead of travelling abroad for wedding and holiday celebrations, people should consider visiting tourist destinations within India, as this would help support the domestic economy.
