NEW DELHI: India has warned Pakistan against making nuclear threats while marking the anniversary of Operation Sindoor. The operation was launched as India’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack, in which innocent civilians were killed. Military action under Operation Sindoor lasted for nearly 88 hours, from May 7 to May 10, 2025.
Senior officials from the Army, Air Force, and Navy who led the operation addressed a press conference in Udaipur on Thursday. Vice Admiral A N Pramod said the operation sent a clear message that “nuclear blackmail” would not work against India. He also warned that if Pakistan provokes India again, the situation could escalate into a full-scale war.
Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai said Operation Sindoor was “not the end, but only the beginning.” The military action came after 26 innocent people were killed in the brutal terror attack carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists with alleged support from Pakistan in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam. The attack took place between 1 pm and 2.45 pm on April 22, 2025.
13 Pakistani fighter jets shot down
The first phase of Operation Sindoor was carried out between 1.05 am and 1.30 am on May 7, 2025. Indian forces targeted and destroyed nine terror training camps linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti said the Indian Air Force shot down 13 Pakistani fighter jets and carried out strikes on 11 Pakistani airbases during the operation. The Air Force also released an 88-second video highlighting key moments from Operation Sindoor.
Fitting reply, says Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Operation Sindoor gave a “fitting reply” to those responsible for killing innocent people in Pahalgam. In a post on X, Modi praised the armed forces for showing unmatched bravery, precision, and determination, adding that every Indian was proud of them. He also changed his social media display picture to one related to Operation Sindoor.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the military operation reflected the armed forces’ extraordinary precision and coordination. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also praised the forces on X, saluting their “unmatched bravery.”
