CHENNAI: Allegations were raised by family members a day after veteran Tamil producer K Rajan died by suicide after jumping into Adayar River. Rajan’s daughter, A Rajeswari, blamed pending dues from filmmakers and pertaining health ailments for the producer ending up taking the tough decision.

Rajeswari said that Rajan had financed small-budget movies in the last few years, but was denied profits or payments by producers. The daughter said that the producers and filmmakers started to ignore Rajan's phone calls whenever he tried contacting them, as the financial situation worsened.

According to the family, Rajan underwent surgery at Apollo Hospital last Wednesday, and a pacemaker was installed. It is said that the producer had a tough time handling the humongous bills from the hospital and opened up about his distress to his son, Suresh Rajan.

On Sunday, Rajan told his family that he was going for a walk outside. As per the police report, it is said that Rajan asked his driver to stop the car when the vehicle reached Adayar Bridge. He jumped into the river from the bridge after getting out. Police investigation is ongoing.
