65 cops to guard CM's house, 32 CCTV cameras, two jeeps to patrol all time, security beefed up

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 24-hour police control room has been set up at the Cliff House, the CM's official residence, as part of beefing up security. This is after the incident where Yuva Morcha activists erected a K-Rail survey stone on the Cliff House premises and assessing it as a serious security breach. In addition to deploying the State Industrial Security Force commando team for security, control room surveillance, including CCTV camera systems, is also in place.

The system is in the old guard room of the main gate. It will be relocated as soon as the construction of the new building is completed. Control Room assistant commissioner will monitor it. 65 policemen will be on duty on shift basis. The control room covers an area of about 10 km, including the Cliff House compound. The premises of nine ministerial buildings in the area are also monitored by the cameras. There are 32 cameras. The visuals will be monitored in the control room. New picket posts and patrolling points were set up. Cops will have additional duty in areas at the back of the ministerial buildings.

Jeep, bike patrolling
In addition to the jeep in the Cliff House control room, two jeeps from the City Control Room will be patrolling the area at all times. A jeep from the museum station will also be on regular patrolling. There will be two bike patrolling teams and two police each of foot patrolling. Beat Book was also installed on nine pickets, including at Devaswom Board Junction, Baines Compound, YMR Junction and other ministerial buildings.

The control room at Cliff House has been set up to enhance the security of ministers and cabinet residences, including the chief minister and as a high security area.
