Legendary 'Buick' used by prime ministers to be displayed as exhibit for public

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A museum is being set up for Buick, a luxury vehicle that has carried eminent personalities in Kerala including former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Charan Singh.

During his tenure as Chief Minister, K Karunakaran and EK Nayanar have travelled in it rarely. Buick was once a symbol of the pride of the world leaders.

The tourism department did not want to turn this vintage legend into scrap. Instead, the car will be stationed inside a glass display cabinet inside a museum that is built in such a way that visitors can see it from the Thycaud guest house premises.

1899- 1999

Buick was first manufactured in 1899 in Detroit, USA. It was later taken over by General Motors. It became a shining star in the luxury vehicle market.

The last car was last released in 1999.
