Mohanlal to become AMMA president again

KOCHI: Mohanlal will be re-elected unopposed as the president and Edavela Babu as the general secretary of 'AMMA'. Following the completion of scrutiny of the nomination papers, it was found that the two have no rivals. The election is on the 19th of this month.

Jayasurya and Siddique have no rival candidates to the post of joint secretary and treasurer respectively. Two vice presidents and 12 executive committee members will be elected by ballot. Asha Sarath and Shweta Menon are the vice-presidential candidates in the Mohanlal panel. There are indications that Mukesh, Jagadeesh and Maniyan Pillai Raju will withdraw their nominations for the post of vice president.

Shammi Thilakan applied for three posts but was rejected as he did not sign. Unni Shivapal's petition was not accepted as the full details were not recorded in the petition.

Honey Rose, Manju Pillai, Lena, Rachana Narayanankutty, Baburaj, Nivin Pauly, Sudheer Karamana, Tovino Thomas, Tini Tom, Unni Mukundan, Lal, Vijaybabu, Suresh Krishna and Nasser Latheef submitted their nomination papers to the committee. The deadline for applications is Wednesday.
