THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Union Minister Kadakampally Surendran has said that the Central government had ignored the Kerala government's request to invite the Pope to visit India. "Three years back, an invitation letter of the Chief Minister was given to the Pope, inviting him to Kerala. He had a good understanding of Kerala and accepted the invitation to come to God's own country. The Kerala government had informed the Centre that the Pope had expressed his desire to visit India and that he should be invited, but the Central Government ignored this", Kadakampalli said in a Facebook post.
