A boycott campaign has been launched on Twitter demanding ban on Bollywood actress Radhika Apte. The campaign is based on scenes from Radhika Apte's 2015 film Parched. The hate campaign was sparked by the star's half-naked picture of the romantic scenes in the film.
The campaign on Twitter is that Radhika Apte's image is against the culture of the country and that she should be banned to protect the culture. Hate campaigners claim that Bollywood cinema is generally an insult to the country and is destroying Indian culture. Tweets that claim that Radhika is trying to destroy Indian culture by using her nudity for financial gain.
Released in 2015, Parched is directed by Leena Yadav. The film revolves around four women from Gujarat. The film deals with child marriage, dowry, marital rape and sexual harassment. Apart from Radhika Apte, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Surveen Chawla and Adil Hussain were also cast in the film.
