Akkitham laid to rest with state honours

KUMARANELLUR: Renowned Malayalam poet Akkitham Achuthan Namboothiri was laid to rest with full state honours at his residence 'Devayanam' in Kumaranellur. His elder son Vasudevan Namboothiri performed the last rites. The cremation took place as per COVID protocol.

Several prominent personalities from political and cultural fields paid tribute to the great poet at his residence. Minister C Raveendranath paid attended the funeral ceremonies.

Akkitham, who was under treatment for old age ailments, passed away at a private hospital in Thrissur Thursday morning.
