ALAPPUZHA: The North Police arrested three youths who broke into the church cemetery at night, dressed in black, and filmed the reels. The arrested are Kommadi natives, twin brothers Sachin (18), Sanjay (18), and Ansil (19), a native of Vellakinar. The investigation intensified for Neharshad, a member of the gang.

The incident took place at around 2:30 am on the 20th of this month. The youths held the cross upside down in the cemetery of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Poonthoppe and filmed the footage, which was then shared on social media. The church authorities then filed a complaint with the police along with the CCTV footage.

The police, after registering a case under the non-bailable section, arrested the gang last night from an empty house near the EMS stadium. The police said that the gang, who are accused of drug and assault cases, had previously barged into the church premises and filmed the reels. The video was shared through Ansil's Instagram account.

The three arrested under the non-bailable section for trespassing into a cemetery and hurting religious sentiments were taken to the church cemetery for evidence collection. The evidence collection was led by Alappuzha DySP G.B. Mukesh, CI Arun M.K. and SI Niyas. The accused were remanded.
