THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Tea will be available for Rs 10 and snacks for Rs 20 at the Thiruvananthapuram airport from now on. Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated the Udaan Cafe virtually. This is the first Udaan Cafe at airports in Kerala. Two cafes opened today at the domestic terminal at Shankhumukham and the international terminal at Chakka.

Many people are hesitant to eat at airports due to the high cost of food. Earlier, a cup of tea used to cost at least Rs 150. This has been solved by the Udaan Cafe.

The first cafe was inaugurated at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata. Similar budget-friendly counters have also been launched at airports in Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Bhubaneswar.

The aim behind this initiative is to provide passengers with snacks starting from Rs 20. The launch of Udaan Yatri Cafes by the Union Civil Aviation Ministry and the Airport Authority of India came after Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha raised concerns in the Rajya Sabha about the exorbitant cost of food at the airport.
