Actor Kamal Roy, brother of actress Urvashi dies

CHENNAI: Film and serial actor Kamal Roy has died in Chennai. He is brother of actors Kalaranjini, Kalpana and Urvashi. He has acted in films like Sayoojyam, Anthapuram, Kolilakkom, Manju, Kingini, Yuvajanolsavam, Kalyana Soungandhikam, Vachalam, Shobanam, The King Maker, Leader etc. He has acted in many serials including Vinay Prasad’s Sarada. He leaves behind his wife and a son.

He is the son of Chavara V P Nair and Vijayalakshmi. He is brother of late Nandu Prince. The song Innumente Kannuneeril... sung and acted by Kamal Roy in the movie Yuvajanolsavam starring Mohanlal and Urvashi is famous. His villain role in the movie ‘Kalyana Saugandhikam’ garnered attention.

Director Vinayan paid his last respects to Kamal Roy. He expressed his condolences by sharing a note on Facebook. He had acted as Dileep’s villain in my movie Kalyana Saugandhikam. He is brother of actress Urvashi, Kalpana and Kalaranjini. I remember that it was Sukumari Chechi who told me about Kamal back then,’ penned Vinayan.
