THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rahul Easwar has alleged that the evidence against actor Dileep in the actress assault case was fabricated by the police. Speaking at a press conference, Rahul said his earlier statements on the case have now been proven correct.
Calling the situation unjust, Rahul said he had spent 16 days in jail and claimed that his position on the Dileep case was right from the beginning. He said society had erred in its judgment and questioned how long Dileep would continue to be targeted. Rahul also asked whether Dileep, like anyone else, did not have a mother, a wife, and two daughters. He alleged that certain sections of the media portrayed Dileep as having committed a major crime and suggested there was a conspiracy behind the case. He pointed to court observations to support his claims.
Rahul recalled that the police and prosecution had leaked a photograph to the media, claiming it showed Dileep and Pulsar Suni together and describing it as a photo with “God’s signature.” He alleged that the image was later found to be photoshopped and questioned the consequences if police officers themselves began fabricating photographs.
Saying that staying in jail and going hungry were not new to him, Rahul added that the truth is simple, while lies are complicated. He accused the authorities of spreading falsehoods and urged people not to hesitate in speaking the truth, warning that society would not survive otherwise.
In the case, the investigation team had earlier submitted a selfie taken on a film set as evidence of a conspiracy between Dileep and Pulsar Suni. The selfie was taken by a staff member on the set, first with Dileep and then, three minutes later, with Pulsar Suni. However, the court rejected the photo, stating that it did not prove any conspiracy.
