THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The complainant in the second sexual assault case against MLA Rahul Mamkootathil has given her statement. The statement was recorded by SP Poonkuzhali. According to her testimony, Rahul sexually assaulted her even as she cried and pleaded with him to stop. She also stated that he threatened her multiple times, and fear kept her from speaking out earlier.

The statement was recorded today as the court is scheduled to consider Rahul’s anticipatory bail plea in this case. The Thiruvananthapuram Principal Sessions Court will hear the petition. The anticipatory bail plea was filed on Saturday. The High Court had earlier stayed his arrest in the first case. The second case was registered while the preliminary hearing in the first case was still underway. An email received by the KPCC was handed over to the police by president Sunny Joseph.

The High Court will reconsider the plea in the first case on December 15. His arrest has been stayed until then. The court, pointing out that the petition contains serious allegations, said a detailed hearing is required. Although the case was listed 32nd, Rahul’s lawyer brought the anticipatory bail matter to the attention of Justice K. Babu as soon as the court convened. The lawyer said there were several important points to present regarding the case. The court then decided to hear the matter in detail.
