'Dileep-Kavya relationship led to divorce, quarrelled several times over the issue'; Manju Warrier's statement out

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The long-awaited verdict in the actress attack case will come out tomorrow. Ernakulam Principal Sessions Judge Honey M Varghese will pronounce the verdict. The incident in question took place in 2017. Pulsar Suni is the first accused. There are ten accused, including actor Dileep. It is reported that the statement of Dileep's ex-wife and actress Manju Warrier is crucial in this case.

Manju, in her purported statement, said her marital life witnessed a downfall after she came to learn about Dileep’s extramarital relationship with Kavya. The actress also clarified that there were problems at home because of this relationship. Dileep suspected that it was the attacked actress who informed Manju of his relationship with Kavya.

The statement of the attacked actress, saying that Dileep carried a grudge against her, also came out today. According to her, Dileep told many people within the industry that it was she who tormented his marital life.

The actress added that Dileep did not talk to her during the rehearsal of the stage show, and many people within the film industry had told her to resolve the issue with the actor.

Meanwhile, it is reported that Dileep sent a message to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, claiming his innocence. Dileep sent the message on the fifth day after the actress was attacked. The message said that he was under severe mental stress following the rumours surfacing on the news and other portals. It is reported that Dileep had also sent a similar message to top police officers. However, the prosecution claims that Dileep sent the message as he anticipated the investigation heading his way.

The actress was attacked on the evening of February 17, 2017, while she was returning to Kochi from Thrissur for a shoot. The accused from two to seven are Martin Antony, B. Manikandan, V.P. Vijeesh, Vadiwal Salim (H. Salim), Pradeep and Charlie Thomas. The ninth accused is Mestri Sanil (Sanil Kumar). Dileep's friend VIP Sarath alias Sarath Nair was also named as an accused in the second chargesheet.
