CHALAKUDY: A 'counselling couple' with the reputation of solving marital problems of locals, fought each other, resulting in a police case. The husband, enraged, took a TV box and hit his wife on the head. He bit her hands, pulled her hair, and smashed her phone worth Rs 70,000 on the floor.

The incident took place on October 25. Charity workers Jiji Mario and her husband Mario Joseph got into a fight while trying to resolve the dispute. The two had been living apart for nine months. Jiji went to her husband Mario's house to resolve the problem. However, the talks worsened during the conversation. Mario then harassed Jiji.

They had also been organising a meditation program called Philokalia for a long time. The Koratty police registered a case against Mario in the incident. The case is under a section that carries a one-month jail term and a fine of Rs 5,000. Mario Joseph has also filed a complaint against Jiji.
