JAIPUR: The news of the sudden death of a buffalo worth around Rs 21 crore at the Pushkar fair in Rajasthan went viral and ignited a social media debate. The buffalo, touted as a sensation, was brought to the Pushkar fair with special arrangements.
On Friday, the buffalo collapsed on the ground after its health deteriorated. A team of veterinarians rushed to the spot after receiving information about the buffalo's poor health, but could not save it. However, those who attended the fair say that the buffalo's death was due to a lack of timely treatment. It is alleged that the owners gave the buffalo excessive food and injected medicines to increase its weight and produce more sperm.
There are also suspicions of owners injecting excessive antibiotics and growth hormones into the buffalo. Rumours are also floating that the death was part to siphon money through insurance fraud.
