President to visit Sivagiri today

SIVAGIRI: The year-long global celebrations marking the centenary of Sree Narayana Guru’s Mahasamadhi will be officially inaugurated today by President Droupadi Murmu at Sivagiri.

The President will arrive by helicopter at Papanasham helipad ground at 12:30 p.m. and reach Sivagiri by road at 12:40 p.m. She will first offer her respects at the Mahasamadhi. At 12:50 p.m., President Murmu will inaugurate the Sree Narayana Guru Mahaparinirvana Centenary Conference at the Theerthadana Auditorium.

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Swami Sachidananda (President, Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust), Swami Shubhananda (General Secretary), Swami Sharadananda (Treasurer), Ministers V.N. Vasavan and V. Sivankutty, former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, MPs Adoor Prakash and V. Joy, and several other dignitaries will attend the event.

The President will spend time at the Sivagiri Mutt from 1:30 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. After lunch with the senior monks of the Mutt, she will depart from Papanasham helipad at 2:50 p.m.
