MUMBAI: A 19-year-old youth committed suicide after saying that he did not want to become a doctor. The dead is Anurag Anil Borkar of Maharashtra’s Chandrapur. He was found hanging at home. A suicide note recovered from his house said that he did not wish to become a doctor. I don’t want to pursue MBBS and a businessman can earn more than a doctor. Have to study for five years and then do postgraduation. I am not interested in it, said the note.

Anurag cleared the NEET exam with 99.99 percentile and was ranked 1475th in the OBC category. He was all set to go for admission at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Gorakhpur. He died by suicide before he could leave for Gorakhpur. He was found hanging at home at 4 am. The police have not released the details of the suicide note in full. The Nawargaon police are investigating the incident.

Anurag had appeared for the NEET exam twice. He had also secured admission to MBBS in the first attempt but as he wanted to study in a better college, he wrote the exam again.
