GUWAHATI: A civil service officer in Assam was arrested after police seized unaccounted amounts of cash and jewellery from her house. The police arrested the woman, identified as Nupur Bora. A team of officers from the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell raided her residence in Guwahati on Monday.
Rs 92 lakh and jewellery worth about Rs 1 crore were seized. Rs 10 lakh was also recovered in a raid at Nupur Bora's rented house. The woman joined the civil services in 2019. She is currently the Circle Officer of Goroimari in Kamrup district.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the officer was under police surveillance for the last six months based on a complaint related to a controversial land deal. CM Sarma also said that there were allegations of corruption against Nupur Bora.
