THRISSUR: Youth Congress leader VS Sujith, who was subjected to custodial torture at the Kunnamkulam police station, got married on Monday. The bride is Puthussery native Trishna. The wedding took place at Guruvayur temple, during the auspicious time between 7 and 7.45 am. Sujith and Trishna have been in love for five years. Several leaders, including DCC president Joseph Tajet, attended the marriage.

Meanwhile, Sujith's friend and INCAS state secretary C.Sadiq Ali caught attention by offering UAE dirhams at the temple after the marriage. Recently, AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal had gifted Sujith a gold ring weighing one sovereign, while Joseph Tajet presented him with a gold chain weighing two sovereigns.

Sujith had earlier said that senior Congress leaders, including former KPCC presidents V.M. Sudheeran and K. Muraleedharan, Youth Congress's former president Shafi Parambil MP, would also attend the wedding.

Sujith was brutally assaulted by five police officers at the Kunnamkulam police station last year. CCTV footage of the assault came out only recently, after a long legal battle. The Congress had staged strong protests regarding the matter, which led to the suspension of the police officers involved. However, Sujith continues to demand that the officers who assaulted him be dismissed from service.
