KANNUR: A woman has been kept in preventive detention in a drug trafficking case. The excise team has arrested Nikhila (30), a native of Payyannur, Kannur. C Nikhila, known as the 'Bullet Lady', has been arrested several times in connection with drug trafficking cases. Nikhila was arrested by the Taliparamba excise team. The woman was caught during the Onam special drive. Excise officials said that Nikhila will be taken to Thiruvananthapuram and kept in preventive detention at the Attakkulangara Women's Jail.

Nikhila's habit of travelling through several states in a Bullet is what led to her being known as the Bullet Lady. The friendships she made through such travels led the woman to the drug trade. The excise team caught the woman, who was hiding, with the help of the Kerala Police and the Bengaluru Police. Nikhila was arrested under the PITNDPS Act (Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act). Under this law, those who regularly smuggle drugs can be kept in preventive detention for six months.

Nikhila was arrested from her home in Kannur in February this year with four grams of methamphetamine. She was also arrested in 2023 with two kilos of ganja. This is the first time a woman has been kept in preventive detention in the state in connection with drug dealing.
