Man, who threw acid on daughter nabbed, held after intensive search

KASARGOD: A man, who threw acid on his daughter to vent his anger over his wife's estrangement, has been arrested. K C Manoj (48) of Anappara at Karikke in Karnataka has been arrested. The police arrested him while he was hiding in his house in Parakadavu. He poured acid on his 17-year-old daughter.


His wife’s niece, a 10-year-old girl also suffered burns in the incident. Both of them have been admitted to the hospital with serious injuries. Manoj and his wife reportedly had a troubled marital life. Following frequent quarrels, she had left their house and was staying with her brother.

The police had launched a manhunt after Manoj absconded. Manoj is an alcoholic who causes constant trouble. His wife and daughter had been estranged from him for some time. Police said he threw acid on the girls when they were playing outside. He poured acid used for processing rubber sheets. The 17-year-old girl suffered burns on her hands and thighs and 10-year-old girl has burns on her face.


In addition to the acid attack, he has also been charged with attempted murder and trespassing. Police say they do not believe there was any motive behind the attack other than family issues.
