NEW DELHI: Malayalam stars Vijayaraghavan and Urvashi shone at the 71st National Film Awards. Vijayaraghavan won the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in the film Pookkalam. Urvashi won the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in the film Ullozhukku.
Ullozhukku was declared the best Malayalam film. Christo Tomy is the director of the film.
Mohandas is the best production designer for the film '2018'. Mithun Murali is the best editor for the film Pookkalam. Malayalam also won an award in the non-feature category. MK Ramdas won the award for the film Nekal – Chronicle of the Paddy Man.
Nekal – Chronicle of the Paddy Man received a special mention from the jury. Meanwhile, the controversial film 'The Kerala Stories' won awards. The film's director, Sudipto Sen, won the Best Director award.
