KOLLAM: Opposition Leader V. D. Satheesan made a personal call to the family of Safraris, a young man from Malassery, Pathanapuram, who gave up his education to work as a daily wage labourer and support his elder brother's academic journey. The elder brother, Afraris, recently qualified for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), thanks to his younger sibling’s sacrifice.

As Safraris was away in Tirunelveli for work, the call was received by Afraris. Satheesan interacted with the rest of the family and conveyed his appreciation for their inspiring story.

“I felt very happy when I saw the news. You are a role model to everyone. To stop your own education midway to support your brother’s studies, and now your brother securing JRF—this is a true tribute to your sacrifice. Your story is an inspiring one. Feel free to call me anytime for anything. I’ll visit your family in person when I come to Kollam,” the Opposition Leader assured Safraris’s family.

The Opposition Leader's gesture came after reading a feature published in Kerala Kaumudi on July 12, titled 'Sarfraris worked to teach his elder brother; Afraris to teach in college soon'. The unexpected call brought joy and pride to the family, who were overwhelmed by the recognition.
