KOLLAM: Crucial details have emerged in the suicide of Chandanathope native Vipanchika in Sharjah. The victim’s family had earlier also alleged a mystery in the death. Lawyer Manoj Kumar admitted that Vipanchika was a victim of dowry harassment and had to face torture even on the day of marriage.
There is also a mystery over the sudden disappearance of the suicide note Vipanchika had posted on Facebook just before she ended her life. Her phone and laptop are reported to have gone missing from the flat. Vipanchika and her daughter were found dead on Tuesday night.
“Never knew that my daughter went through such torture. She might not have disclosed anything to me for fear that I would get hurt. I raised her alone and went through many difficulties. Vipanchika might have never wanted the same to happen to her daughter, so she did the unthinkable.
Nidheesh might have feared Vipanchika telling all the grisly details of the assault if she were to return home in Kerala. That’s why he eliminated them,” said Shailaja, mother of Vipanchika.
Vipanchika's relatives filed a complaint with the Foreign Minister, the Indian Consulate in Sharjah, and the Chief Minister, demanding an investigation into the death. Vipanchika's suicide note, written in her handwriting, had come to light, asking that her killers not be spared. In addition to the brutal torture she faced from her husband, the suicide note also contains serious allegations against her father-in-law, Mohanan Valiyaveetil and sister-in-law, Neethu. The bodies are now kept at Sharjah Al Qasimi Hospital. Vaibhavi's postmortem has been completed.
