KOLLAM: Kollam Chandanathope native Vipanchika, who was found dead along with her young daughter in a flat in Al Nahda, Sharjah, had suffered brutal torture from her husband and in-laws. Details of the alleged abuse were described in a handwritten suicide note that Vipanchika had posted on Facebook.

In the note, she named her husband Nitheesh Mohan, his sister, and his father as responsible for her death. She also mentioned that their housemaid was aware of everything. Serious accusations were made against her father-in-law and sister-in-law in the six-page note.

A few hours before her death, Vipanchika had shared another post on Facebook detailing the abuse she had endured. However, the post later disappeared from her account. Family members have since shared its contents publicly.

The tragedy unfolded on Tuesday night around 10 p.m. when Vipanchika and her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter were found dead in their apartment. Vipanchika and Nitheesh were not living together at the time and were staying in separate flats. When the housemaid came to spend the night, she repeatedly knocked but got no response. She then contacted Nitheesh. Together, they broke open the door and found the bodies — at least, that’s what Nitheesh claimed. Vipanchika’s family says they don’t believe his version of events.

The bodies are currently kept at Al Qassimi Hospital mortuary in Sharjah, and the family hopes to bring them back to India by Thursday.

From the suicide note: “Don’t let the killers go free”
“Never let the killers go free. I had no desire to die. I haven’t yet had enough of seeing my child’s face. They tortured me, saying that the wedding lacked grandeur, the dowry was too little, and no car was given. I endured it all. They mocked me, saying I was homeless, penniless, a beggar. The reason for their hatred was that I asked for the key to the jewellery locker, which was bought by my father-in-law. They beat me like a dog. I was denied food. I endured everything for the sake of my child. They wanted to portray me as mentally ill. I’m tired… please, don’t let them go free."

“My daughter didn’t commit suicide, she was murdered”: Vipanchika’s mother
“My daughter did not die by suicide, she was murdered,” said her mother, Shailaja, through tears. “She had only mentioned minor disagreements. She hid the truth so I wouldn’t worry. They plotted this. They even cut her hair. There is clear foul play in her death,” Shailaja alleged.
