MADIKAI: A square hole 30 feet away from the mouth of a 20-foot-high cave. Sunlight entering the cave. The interior is more than five thousand square feet. An altar-like shape on the wall in the middle of the cave. The 'Guna Cave' of Madikai, called Kundara Cave, opens up endless possibilities for rural tourism. The locals demand that the cave, which was previously checked by a historical research team, be subjected to scientific studies by the Archaeological Department.
There is great potential for rural tourism here. The solar field in Kundara is also near the cave. Signs of carving with ancient iron weapons and engravings on the walls were found during the observation conducted earlier by Dr. Nandakumar Koroth, a historical researcher and history teacher at Nehru Arts and Science College, Kanhangad, local archaeologist Satheesan Kaliyanam, and architect Namratha Gopan. The Department of Archaeology has already submitted a memorandum to the Minister of Archaeology, requesting that the Department of Archaeology conduct studies utilising the tourism potential.
How to reach?
Take a bus from Kanhangad to Karakode and get off at the Kundara bus stop. From there, walk on the left side. A wide rock will be seen. Once you reach there, you can see Madikai's 'Guna Cave'.
There is no doubt that Kundara Cave can give a boost to Madikai's tourism development.
