Continuous earthquakes, will there be a tsunami tomorrow? Next prediction raises more concerns

A decades-old prediction claiming that Japan will face a major disaster on July 5 has caused concern across Asia. People have abandoned their plans to travel to Japan following widespread rumours that an earthquake or tsunami will hit the country.

The prediction is based on 2021 manga called 'The Future I See' by Ryo Tatsuki, also known as the ‘New Baba Vanga’, who predicted the 1995 Kobe earthquake and the 2011 Tohoku tsunami. In recent days, there was an earthquake measuring 5.5 in magnitude in the Tokara Islands of Japan. The world is worried that the series of earthquakes is a sign of a major disaster to occur tomorrow.

Another prediction by Baba Vanga is now causing more concern. Vanga's book predicts that a rift will form under the sea between Japan and the Philippines, causing huge waves that will be three times larger than the deadly tsunami that hit Japan in 2011. Now, scientists have discovered that something similar is happening underground in the area. Studies suggest that this could be a warning of a major earthquake in the future.

Over the past 1,400 years, a 'mega-earthquake' has occurred in Japan's Nankai Thruway every 100 to 200 years. The last one was in 1946. It measured between 8.1 and 8.4 on the Richter scale.

In 2011, an underwater megathrust earthquake measuring 9 to 9.1 on the Richter scale also shook Japan. In addition, the 2011 disaster was the most powerful earthquake Japan has ever experienced.

Officials say there is an 82 percent chance that a magnitude 7 or higher earthquake will strike the Nankai Strait within the next 30 years. The Japan Earthquake Research Agency estimates that such an earthquake could kill up to 298,000 people and cause up to $2 trillion in damage.
