ALAPPUZHA: More details emerged in the arrest of a temple priest in connection with a complaint filed by a Bengaluru native. In the complaint, it says the accused priest persisted on video calls and even threatened with witchcraft if ignored his demands. The priest of the Peringottukara Kanadikavu Shree Vishnumaya Kuttichathan, Arun, was arrested in the incident.
As per the complainant, Arun demanded her to undress through video call and if ignored, threatened to perform witchcraft to endanger her family members. The woman had come to the temple to resolve the problems she faced after her husband's death. The priest convinced her that the death was a result of someone casting a spell on her. Slowly, he acquired the details including the phone number of the complainant and started contacting her.
Later, in the guise of witchcraft, Arun started to sexually abuse the complainant. The woman sent screenshots of WhatsApp messages sent by the accused to the police.
