Actor Dileep has made a remarkable comeback through the family entertainer 'Prince and Family'. The film is performing well at the box office. In a recent interview with a YouTube channel, Dileep opened up about the changing trends in cinema and how he no longer gets the kind of roles he used to get earlier. He added that if he were to do roles similar to the ones he did years ago, he would likely face criticism. However, he expressed confidence in the continued support of Malayali audiences, saying that "Malayalis will not abandon me that easily."
"Everyone says that cinema has changed. In the past 30 years, I’ve done various types of comic and lead roles. Those kinds of roles don’t come to me anymore. Some people say they want the 'old Dileep' back. Even if I took on those kinds of roles again now, I would still face criticism. When we look at the content of films today, there’s nothing particularly new. But when newcomers do it, it feels fresh."
Prince and Family is directed by a debutant. Dileep mentioned that he’s now working with the new generation of filmmakers. "I’ve been going through challenges since the day I was born. When people watch my films, they often say I act with a sense of sadness. Those are the kinds of characters that come to me. People say I always look sad. But sadness exists in everyone’s heart. I try to stay truthful in front of the camera. It becomes a problem when films don't do well. But if we give people the kind of cinema they want, they will stand by us. Malayalis won’t easily abandon me," Dileep said.
