ISLAMABAD: Following the Pahalgam terror attack, a panic-stricken Pakistan, fearing an Indian retaliation, has once again come forward with a provocative statement. Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has threatened that any structure built by India to divert Pakistan's share of water under the Indus Waters Treaty would be destroyed.

India had temporarily suspended the Indus Waters Treaty-which ensures water flow to Pakistan-following the Pahalgam terror attack. It was in response to this action that the Pakistani minister made his remarks. Khawaja Asif argued that diverting Pakistan's water would be seen as an act of aggression. When asked how Pakistan would respond if India moved ahead with dam construction in the Indus basin, Asif declared that such a move would be treated as an attack, and if India even attempts it, Pakistan would destroy those structures.

Meanwhile, India has completely banned all imports from Pakistan as part of its strong response to the Pahalgam attack. The ban, aimed at ensuring national security, was confirmed by the Ministry of Commerce in an official notification, stating that imports from Pakistan- direct or indirect- are prohibited.

This move comes in the wake of India's earlier decisions to revoke the Indus Waters Treaty and suspend visa services for Pakistani citizens. Additionally, both countries have agreed to close their respective air routes to each other.
