KUWAIT CITY: More information has been received about the mysterious death of a Malayali couple found with stab injuries in their apartment in Kuwait.
The victims were identified as Suraj (40), a native of Sreekandapuram Naduvil, Kannur, a nurse at Jabir Hospital under the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health, and Bincy (35), a native of Kolenchery, Ernakulam, a nurse at the Defence Hospital. It is reported that Suraj stabbed his wife to death during a family dispute and then committed suicide. More information is yet to be obtained regarding the murder.
Before carrying out the attack, Suraj reportedly sent messages to some of his wife's friends about the decision to end his life. Suraj then stabbed Bincy to death and committed suicide. The couple lived in Jleeb Al Shuyoukh (Abbasiya), a place dominated by Malayalees.
Neighbours told police about hearing cries of Bincy, but the door was locked. The police had to barge inside, breaking down the door to find the bodies of the couple. The fight broke out after Suraj returned from night duty. A strong dispute between the two might have made things worse, say the neighbours.
The couple had brought their children, who were studying in Kerala, to Kuwait last month for the holidays. Suraj returned to Kuwait four days ago after dropping his children off safely in Kerala. The couple had been making efforts to move to Australia soon. The bodies of both will be brought to Suraj's hometown on Monday. The funeral will be held on Tuesday.
