'Country-made firecrackers aimed at Sobha Surendran's house'; special investigation team to be appointed

THRISSUR: The blast heard in front of BJP leader Sobha Surendran’s house in Thrissur is likely to be from a country-made cracker. Thrissur City Police Commissioner R Elango assured a strong investigation into the matter.

The Thrissur City Police Commissioner reached the spot and talked with the BJP leader.

An inspection was conducted at the spot. The sound was also heard in nearby places. A special investigation team is likely to be appointed into the incident. The Commissioner termed the purported attack at the BJP leader's residence as a very serious incident.

At the same time, Sobha Surendran demanded an investigation to bring out the perpetrators. The BJP leader asserted it was an attempt to attack her. The incident took place when Sobha returned to her residence after attending the final rites of Ramachandran, killed by terrorists in Kashmir.

“My vehicle had been left outside at night. The attackers may have received instructions to target the house with the white car parked on the porch, and so they mistakenly directed crackers at my neighbour's house. There was no special function that required bursting crackers yesterday,” said Sobha Surendran.
