WASHINGTON: The US government has rejected the New York Times' report on Pahalgam terror attack. The US has criticized the New York Times for downplaying the severity of the attack by referring to the attackers as 'gunmen' and 'militants' instead of 'terrorists'.

The US House Foreign Affairs Committee came forward correcting New York Times through X. The US House Foreign Affairs Committee criticized by sharing a screenshot of the original headline of the news.

The original headline of the New York Times was '24 tourists killed by gunmen in Kashmir'. This was changed to '24 tourists killed by terrorists in Kashmir'. That is, 'militants' has been crossed in red ink and 'terrorists' changed to red ink.

There was a discussion that not only the New York Times, but also leading Western media outlets like BBC, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, CNN, France 24, and Reuters were trying to downplay terrorism. Many pointed that the Western media was deliberately trying to cover up terrorist activities by calling them fighters and gunmen. The question was raised as to why the Western media did not call the attackers terrorists. US came forward after this.

Following the terrorist attack, US President Donald Trump and others came in support of India. Trump wrote on social media that he stands strongly with India against terrorism.

Trump, who expressed his condolences to those who lost their lives in the terrorist attack, had spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Trump had also stated that he would provide full support to India in bringing those responsible for this 'heinous attack' to justice.
