'Dijo cried on phone; no similarity with Nishad Koya's script': B Unnikrishnan about ‘Malayalee from India’ plagiarism row

In a big twist to the script theft controversy surrounding the movie ‘Malayalee from India’, popular film director B Unnikrishnan held a press meeting along with Dijo Jose Antony and Listin Stephen, and denied all similarities existing between Nishad Koya’s script and the one written by Sharis Mohammed.

While elaborating on the issue, Unnikrishnan put light on another script in 2013 written by a newcomer Rajeev with a similar plotline. Actor Dileep was set to play the lead in the movie which eventually got shelved.

B Unnikrishnan:

We have found a piece of crucial evidence. The script which was sent as PDF by Nishad Koya to Dijo was not downloaded from WhatsApp by the latter. So, how can Nishad claim that the script was read by Dijo? It is sad to see a film which is the hard work of several people facing such degrading. Dijo called me and cried while revealing his ordeal.

Meanwhile, many are now questioning the feeble argument made by Unnikrishnan regarding the PDF. In WhatsApp web, it is common that the file will be shown as not downloaded if it was once read and deleted. The press meeting didn’t give any hint about the legal steps impending against Nishad Koya for degrading the movie.

Nishad Koya is yet to make a response to the new allegations made by the ‘Malayalee from India’ crew along with director B Unnikrishnan.
