KOCHI: The Ernakulam Sub Court has ordered to freeze the bank accounts of the producers of the blockbuster Malayalam film 'Manjummel Boys'. The action was taken on the complaint filed by Aroor native Siraj, who alleged that he was not given his money back or his profit share despite spending Rs 7 crores for the film.
Judge Sunil Varkey has frozen the bank deposit of 40 crores of production company Parava Films and its partner Shaun Antony. The court also sent notices to producers Soubin Shahir and Babu Shahir.
According to the petition filed by the complainant, the film's producers had promised him a 40 percent profit share when he provided them with financial assistance. However, they cheated him after receiving the money. 'Manjummel Boys' has collected Rs 220 crore so far. The petitioner also claimed that the film's producers got about Rs 20 crore through the OTT contract. Further hearings will take place after the producers reply to the notices.
