Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) legend The Sandman, known popularly as the hardcore icon, entered the ring for the last time on April 17th at The Horseshoe in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Known for his wild and aberrant behaviour in the ring, Sandman made sure to make his final appearance have its share of uniqueness, as he brought along adult film superstar Kendra Lust to walk him to the ring. The iconic entrance and the crazy duo appearing side by side left the ECW crowd ecstatic. Despite the best efforts and a wild fight, Sandman lost his retirement match to Invisible Man.
Wrestling legend Mick Foley also appeared for Sandman’s final match.
“I might not like you, but I love you. It is an honour to be here for your final match’ said Foley, leaving the crowd erupt into applause.
Sandman had cultivated a cult status for his freak and carefree appearances on the ring during the heydays of ECW from 1992 to 1998. Apart from ECW, Sandman had also featured in WCW, NWA, WWE, and Xtreme Pro Wrestling.
