THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Education Minister V Sivankutty has responded to the Facebook comment of former nun Tina Jose, who made a death threat against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The minister said that her response is shocking. The minister said her statement against the head of the state is not acceptable under any circumstances.
‘The remark that the chief minister of Kerala should be killed by hurling a bomb like how Rajiv Gandhi was killed is an insult to any civilized society. This is not just a personal expression of a person, but a clear challenge to the legal system and democratic values of the country. A person who claims to be a lawyer has committed such a heinous act by flouting the law. This is a shame for the legal profession itself.
It is learned through media that this person is a staunch campaigner of Twenty20 and is organizing meetings for them even in other districts. Their stand on the Twenty20 issue should be clarified immediately. Their act of criticizing the chief minister and the people's representatives in derogatory language during meetings should also be taken seriously. This exposes the political style of Twenty20,’ said Sivankutty.
Tina Joseph' threatening comment was under the Facebook post of Selton L D'Souza on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's electioneering for the local body elections from tomorrow. ‘Someone should hurl a bomb at him at that time. This world that killed a good man like Rajiv Gandhi, will be able to do that, said her comment.
Meantime, the CMC nun community responded that Tina Jose was expelled in 2009 and since then she has no legal permission or right to wear the holy attire. What Tina Jose does is entirely her decision and responsibility. The CMC nun community has no role in it, said the spokesperson in a press release.
