BENGALURU: The Bengaluru Police have registered a case against a man from Sultan Bathery, Wayanad, following allegations of sexual assault by a 20-year-old Malayali woman.
According to official sources, the survivor, a Kottayam native employed part-time at a local cafe, was allegedly assaulted at a friend’s residence on May 12. The accused has been identified as Hinas, a resident of the Madiwala locality.

The survivor has levelled serious allegations against the local police regarding their handling of the case. She stated that despite approaching the police station the day after the incident, officers initially refused to file a First Information Report (FIR).
Action was reportedly taken only after the survivor escalated the matter by submitting a formal complaint directly to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). Furthermore, the survivor alleged that the accused confronted and issued death threats to her inside the police station premises to deter her from pursuing legal action. An investigation into the matter is currently underway.
